Volunteering at PATH on Christmas Eve.

Since I had the day off from Townsquare Media, I offered to volunteer at PATH since they needed help. Merry Christmas. "Thank you for calling PATH. Head elf speaking." :-)

Happy Gobble Gobble Thanksgiving Gobble Gobble

It was another very nice Thanskgiving at my parents.

There was plenty to be thankful for.

Better health, employment and happiness seemed to top the list. We said our Thanskgiving prayer and my Dad made sure to add that we remember our military. VERY true. Thank you Dad. We also asked God to smile down on the Dallas Cowboys. :-)

Mom, Dad, Fran and I were there making all of our favorites. Fran baked a turkey and Dad deep fried a cajun turkey. There was PLENTY of turkey.

I went down the street to my Aunt's house and it was my little cousin Emillee's birthday! Yaaaaay.

I made my first Pecan Pie. It is a favorite in our family and my mother finally showed me her secret recipe. Her mother taught her how to make it and her mother before her. I am not sharing the secret either, sorry. :-)

Everyone ended up on the couch to watch the Dallas Cowboys take on the New Orleans Saints. All in all it was a very good day.

17th Anniversay. Cooking with Grandma.

Today is the 17th anniversary of my Grandmother's death. I selected this day each year to take a look at my life and make sure that I am living a life that she would be proud of. So far, so good. As she was a cook, I always like to don the apron and spend some time in the kitchen. After a few home made Roddarita's, I put in the "Two Fat Ladies" DVD (a fun BBC cooking show from the 90's) and began to cook. I snacked on some Boar's Head Prosciutto Panini while I made tomato basil soup. I warmed up some left over seasoned chicken breast and folded it all in with some finely grated colby/jack cheese mixture and will soon poor it over the brown rice that I have just lovingly prepared. I called a neighbor who recently had his wisdom teeth removed to see if he needed any soup (he has moved on to whiskey and has gone past soup) and lo and behold I get to have it all for myself. At any rate...a good night and I would like to think that my Grandmum was with me the whole time enjoying herself in the kitchen. I love you Grandma. Always and forever.

Mom's Recipe for Sausage Balls a Huge Hit at First Presbyterian

I spent about an hour on the phone with my Mum Saturday night as I prepared (for the first time ever) her recipe for sausage balls. We eat these every Thanksgiving and Christmas morning as we wait for our traditional Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas lunch.

I was asked, along with Miss Catherine, to provide a morning snack to accompany the regular
coffee and juice for our fellow church members at First Presbyterian Church . She made a delicious cake and together we decorated the table and filled it with all sorts of delectables.
